Verizon Wireless Promotes “Evolution” Retail Stores in Florida
Verizon Wireless is hoping to duplicate Apple’s success in interactive retailing, and make shopping for a new cell phone a fun and interesting experience.
The #2 U.S. wireless carrier opened two new retail outlets in Florida last month, encouraging customers to come in and browse its newest products in an interactive environment. The so called “Evolution” stores, located in Winter Garden and Tampa, showcase about 75 fully-functional products that are pre-activated and ready to be tested by customers.
Shoppers can use a computer to sign in at the door, then proceed explore the store, and have their names called once an employee is ready to assist and advise them.
“Customers can go in and put their hands on things to put the devices through the paces,” explained Verizon Wireless spokesman, Chuck Hamby. “You can walk around and you don’t have to worry about standing in line.”
