Easy Calling Card Use with iPhone

A new application for the iPhone that has just been released on September 2008 makes using calling cards from your mobile phone easy. For a small fee, iPhone users can download this application from iTunes.com and install it on their Apple phones. With this neat applications, users do not have to memorize or carry their calling cards anywhere. After purchasing long distance or international phone cards, users can just store the access numbers and pins on their iPhone, and just simply dial it when needed. Also, users can simply call any of their contacs using the calling cards with a simple one-touch dialing.

How to use Calling Card feature:
1. Once downloaded, select the "Calling Card" cell to view and choose between different cards you set up or to add/edit cards. To edit card definitions or add new accounts, click the "Edit" button in the top right of the navigation bar.

2. Select the "Contact/Number" cell to select a number to be dialed or define/edit favorite numbers. You can select destination numbers from contacts, enter number manually, or select from favorite numbers. Note: The application will calculate and display the local time for the contact to be called below the number.

3. Once both a card and a number have been selected, the black "Call" icon will appear; simply select it to start your call.

On the Card List screen, it shows the details for the selected card, such as: Name, (Access) Number, PIN (optional), Manage call detail (of how the call will be completed), and International Prefix Handling.

You can also set, Automatic Card Selection, where you can define rules for automatic card selection. If set up properly you can place calls selecting only the contact/number to call without the need to manually select the correct card to use. You can set Default card, Contact exceptions, and Prefix exceptions.

This feature is a recent addition by Apple and it's still under constant improvement to fix bug issues. The program is fully localized in the following languages: English and German only. However, so far users are satisfied. Here are the iPhone Calling Card Application Main Features:

- Set up multiple phone/calling card accounts and easily switch between them.

- Automatic card selection based on contact and/or number prefix.

- Set up a list of favorite numbers to dial, select any number from your contacts, or directly enter a phone number to be dialed.

- Full support for international prefixes (numbers stored starting with '+').

- Flexible call details setup allows for automatic dialing of most phone cards even if intermediate menu selections have to be made.

- Display local time for the contact to be called (time zone look up based on the phone number).

You can purchase and download the latest version of the application on the iPhone App Store (requires iPhone 2.1 Software Update).
