IDT Corporation and VoodooVox In Collaboration for Calling Card Technology
VoodooVox (News - Alert) and IDT Corporation will be working together to provide a new service to calling card users.
This new service allows a user to have personalized calling card services and is intended to enable access to various lifestyle information and discount offers and promotions, which are designed specifically for that particular demographic.
IDT, and its distribution agent Union Telecard Alliance (UTA), will be leveraging its vast market of calling card users. The company has two brands, La Leyenda and Boss branded cards.
“It’s about enriching the experience of our calling card customer, creating savings for our consumers, and ensuring that they receive more than they expect,” stated Carlos Gomez, founder, Union Telecard Alliance. “Today we offer our customers interactivity, integrity, and very low rates. Soon we will bring further incentives to our customers, including free calling minutes with no hidden charges or costs.”
In quite a large market that spans 50 percent of America, the typical demographic that utilizes the calling cards supplied by IDT are the people who fall in the age group of 18 to 34. According to figures, the destinations that are called the most frequently are ones like Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador. The personalized services are targeted at these people in particular.
VoodooVox (News - Alert) has a Spanish language news center called Al Dia II. This news center contains updates of all those countries, including popular data like news, weather reports, sports related news, and also infotainment. This information can be customized to reflect the calling destination, and provide the news about that place in particular.
“Our cards deliver ad-supported content when customers use their phone cards. For example an ad for airline travel to the Dominican Republic can be served when our calling platform sees that the caller is dialing a number there,” said David Gewirtz, vice president of business development and promotions, IDT Telecom, in a Wall Street Journal interview. “The caller can then press a button to hear more information while waiting for the call to connect.”
Among the other services that the collaboration will provide users, there are also promotions and special offers for items available at a neighborhood grocery store, or even discounts on international hotels.
